Keith Gerein: Edmonton's renewal deficit is a $10-billion black hole
https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/columnists/keith-gerein-edmonton-city-council-infrastructure-renewal"Put a hard cap on sprawl to ensure Edmonton’s road network doesn’t get substantially bigger."
Silly, ~12,000 km of roads isn't too much for a city of a little over a million! Unambitious!

@dyckron He brings up increasing user fees, but one thing we're not likely to be applying user fees to is by far the biggest asset category - $10 billion of the city's total $40 billion replacement value in assets, more than triple any other category of asset - roads.
I don't think turning all the streets into toll roads is the way, but we have to find a way to cut back on the socialism for the auto industry...

@dragonfrog toll fence around the city, imho. All the rugged individuals in, say, Morinville can pay to access the "disgusting" city they all shamelessly economically rely on. /my 2 cents
