      @xarph @etchedpixels it's a great shame that onlyfans wasn't around when Lindi St Claire was running for parliament as the Corrective Party candidate.

          @alvan @etchedpixels

          huh. so they admitted out loud that politicians like them are just publicity whores and not thought leaders and legislators/leaders that journalists will naturally want to follow?

          @paul_ipv6 not really; they want to be where the engagement is, and at the moment it is twitter. Tbh, I am not expecting them to close their twitter accounts, but they can easily post stuff here as well. There are projects to use to easily cross-post!

            @alvan

            "engagement" is really a misnomer. in social media, it's just views, i.e. "how many people look at my posts and hang on my words".

              @alvan @etchedpixels that's the issue with social network - there are network effects.
              But saying you're not on fediverse isn't a valid consequence, the only valid consequence is that you can't close your X account until a big majority of journalists are also on the fediverse

              @bonno @etchedpixels yep. And they - in a way - should not close, because fascists also vote, and you must inform them as well. They just need to cross-post to the fediverse. That is all and no network effect is required.

                @paul_ipv6 good point. Now that you mention it, engagement could be more on fediverse (iirc, Hank Green also found this fact out by practice).

                Yes, it is just about the views.

                  @etchedpixels That we know of! (They probably are but we don't talk about the unifying power of porn in "polite" company)

                    @etchedpixels And that's gonna stop them from making accounts there... how, exactly?
