    @etchedpixels yes!

    Yesterday at FOSDEM there was a question addressed to Alexandra Geese (a member at the EU parliament from Greens), saying why are not all politicians at fediverse? Her answer was like politicians are saying journalists are there.

    LOL! Aren't journalists supposed to be where the politicians are, not the other way around?!

    @alvan @etchedpixels no, journalists should physically be where the politicians are and monitoring where the politicians are online, but they should be in their distribution posts where the readers are. And most of their readers have abandoned the Xitter!

      @etchedpixels It just goes to show that being on a platform that’s ran by a racist SOB is more socially acceptable than being on a site where people willingly show their sexuality. Seems backwards to me that nazi is less bad than consenting sex work

                  @alvan @etchedpixels that's the issue with social network - there are network effects.
                  But saying you're not on fediverse isn't a valid consequence, the only valid consequence is that you can't close your X account until a big majority of journalists are also on the fediverse

                            @paul_ipv6 not really; they want to be where the engagement is, and at the moment it is twitter. Tbh, I am not expecting them to close their twitter accounts, but they can easily post stuff here as well. There are projects to use to easily cross-post!

                              "engagement" is really a misnomer. in social media, it's just views, i.e. "how many people look at my posts and hang on my words".

                                @bonno @etchedpixels yep. And they - in a way - should not close, because fascists also vote, and you must inform them as well. They just need to cross-post to the fediverse. That is all and no network effect is required.

                                  @paul_ipv6 good point. Now that you mention it, engagement could be more on fediverse (iirc, Hank Green also found this fact out by practice).

                                  Yes, it is just about the views.
