New post: My Pain Point With Immutable Linux Desktops

I started using Bluefin and Fedora Silverblue at the end of 2023. The concept of primarily using cloud technology and containers matched perfectly with my workflow.

@stoeps Interesting, thanks! Did you try other immutable distros? AerynOS, blendOS, etc?

And do you now utilize immutable-style workflows on Cachy? Like Flatpak only, read-only partitions or something like that?

@stoeps evdi sucks on all linuxes, that's not a model limitation - that's hardware manufacturers sucking at linux.

It lasted 2.5 years, the longest time I ever used the same distribution. I still believe in bootc, but need a stable machine for work. It's a bit sad that rebasing between different distributions or versions is not always working. This could also help. @jorge

@stoeps I switched to Bluefin thanks to your talks and am setting up my bluebuilds. But after your blog post and @dde’s link dump, I’m unsure again

I’m on a Framework 13, so maybe less affected by driver issues. I liked the “stateless workstation” idea with chezmoi + uBlue repos.

So, back to Ansible after all?

If you're happy, keep it going. I think the Framework hardware is better supported. I just needed more stability.
Until now it's scripts and chezmoi. @krizz @dde
