      @FoxesInLove

      This reminds me of my mom. She once said “come help me move the piano” when she meant that we should move the stove. 😂

        @FoxesInLove This was absolutely my mother, too...

        Brother and I often joked we needed a "thing to [native language] dictionary", because OY, the amount of times she'd say "thing" referring to the most random things, expecting everyone around her to know what she was talking about...

          @FoxesInLove If you have lived it, you know. My mother-in-law did this exactly like that. My mother did not, but she did a different thing. Where, if she got speaking too fast, she would begin in one sentence, skip the end of that sentence and the beginning of the next, and finish end of that next sentence, so that it made almost totally no sense at all unless you were following her thoughts rather than her words. And every time she did that, Dad would just smile at her.

            @FoxesInLove
            She: “Honey, did it arrive yet?”
            He (not knowing what she’s talking about): “Yes.”
            She: “Where did you put it?”
            He: “With the others.”

                  @FoxesInLove
                  My brothers and I have a running gag formed in our childhood: Very often, when one of us needed a thing and couldn't find it and asked our mom, the answer would be: "There" in her mother's tongue (we grew up bilingual). Of course, we wouldn't know, where "there" is.

                  We do that now every so often and get a good chuckle out of it.
                  I'm even doing it to my children now on purpose. 🙂
