The subject must have intact dormant 3rd row tooth buds that can be activated, so if the former tooth was abscessed and took out the underlying bone and dormant 3rd row tooth bud, it won't work. (We are born with enough tooth buds to grow three sets of teeth, but one set of those buds stays dormant).
