@eliza Yes, but that doesn't matter. They simply have to write an EO saying they consider it felony fraud to have inconsistent ID from whatever their definition of your sex is. And then, poof, I can be arrested as a felon for trying to leave the country.

@eliza Oh sure, there would be court challenges - hell, I'd figure out how to join in as a plaintiff, but fact remains my passport would be invalidated.

I don't even know how I would manage to get an M passport. I changed my birth certificate already, so how am I supposed to "prove I'm a man"?

@JessTheUnstill I don't dare go anywhere where I'll have to show my passport. I don't want to deal with any likely negative outcomes.

@miah The next time I would hand my passport to a cop or fed would be when I have a one way ticket.

@JessTheUnstill right? At this point I’m wondering if I didn’t luck out by missing the deadline and having them “correct” my in-progress passport to M

@Athena I only have a marker on my birth certificate that my demographic information changed, so I guess that'd be something?

@JessTheUnstill for a long time I was unable to answer the question "where do you see yourself in 5 years". Recently I've seen it. It's a career in art, making pottery. But my doomerism thought is.. if I live that long. If I survive this time. If I don't end up in some sort of camp.

I have a wonderfully supportive community, and am surrounded by chosen family and feel included and loved. But I'm still terrified about the future. I know that this is what they want.

@JessTheUnstill I've had many, many thoughts about this as well.

I imagine myself walking into the office and loudly declaring, "Yes, hello! The federal government has declared that I am a boy! I need you to give me a passport that says I am a boy so I can be recognized as a legal person again, thank you!" And doing all this while wearing makeup and a dress and clearly not at all looking like a boy.

@miah I've been avoiding buying a house for the last several years in no small part because I don't want my nest egg trapped in an illiquid piece of real estate...

@miah The idea of immigrating is overwhelming. Every time I try and start working on thinking about it too seriously, I get so panicked about it all I collapse into a depression spiral.

@JessTheUnstill I've moved cross country and re-established myself so many times. I've finally found a home, and chosen family. Just the thought of moving to another country and leaving them fills me with endless grief.

I am in Canada and still need to change my legal name. We have an X here but I'm terrified to put the X on mine, both for international travel and future fear. It shouldn't have to feel like this. Sending love and support.
