Back in 1991, I heard the song “The City Sleeps” on the radio on WBRU.
I was instantly captivated by it, and it took me a long time after that to find it on CD. We’re talking almost a whole year.
Once I got it, I was fully immersed in it for months.
It’s a great hip-hop album with killer instrumentation; sometimes jazzy, sometimes spooky, sometimes just old school sounding hiphop.They did a great job on this reissue, and the remixes and expanded material is quite interesting.
A horribly under appreciated artist, and a great album.
