Keith Rabois argues the traditional PM role is dying due to AI. I agree with him.
He believes that a PM whose job is primarily to take customer requests and turn them into a 1 year roadmap is obsolete. The tech is changing too quickly for a year long plan to be durable.
I’ve always felt 6 months is the longest a roadmap can stay relevant before tech or the market makes it irrelevant.
Instead he says PMs should focus on what to build and why. I agree 100%.

@carnage4life In my experience the role of a PM has often been to sit in meetings and manage communication and schedules so that engineers can focus on development. Have meetings and status reports been eliminated?
