    @sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee the gm stuff only really sounds interesting when augmented, like some artists do on orange milk for example. if i had to choose between different sound sources for pc i'd absolutely never take gm tho, especially if you had the option for adlib or yamaha fm (like on the x68000 for example with its base sound chip) or like gravis ultrasound-like wavetable instead.

      @sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @oscillik @Rushup_Dee gm sound and vaporwave is a bit of a chicken and the egg situation. do we associate these sounds to vaporwave because that's what was sampled, or was vaporwave an aesthetic trend that just didn't really have a name and was just codified.

      like, devil summoner soul hackers is to me an actual vaporwave artifact. i know it existed at the time but it's an incredible sum of all that the aesthetic represents, ost included: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl6pv2f3ILU

          had to find Bleed but it’s kinda disappointing. not bad but not in love w/ it, gets better as it goes tho.
          edit: i lied, im in love with the bridge where the drums drop out & it kicks back in w/ the brass solo, those sections are great

                          @miblo @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee I've realised the melody is "two wrongs make a right" on most tracks on the E.P, haha!

                          I mean, making the first bits of the "conversation" consonant, and then doing odd turns on the third stroke.

                          It's all about threes! πŸ˜„

                            @sean_ae @janne808 Just for the record, the PiStorm cannot emulate the 2 meg chip ram needed by Quad Track, so you need to find an original memory extension for the Agnus trapdoor..

                            Best solution is a 1200 (with PiStorm or other) but that combo can be anything from 700Β£ to 1300Β£. Unless of course you go for a A4000 for ~Β£2500-3000 πŸ˜†

                                      @Cognessence @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee Ohhh right, yeah, I think I get the two wrongs bit now, maybe? I mean, just that Bβ™ figure – D-F-D-Bβ™-D – was crazily throwing me off, I kept hearing that first D as an Eβ™, which had been in the bass! Amazing stuff.

                                      @miblo @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee I'm glad that that worked out for you!

                                      I should admit that I rarely think about these things consciously in playing, and found that in reading (in a search for higher-level examples that weren't just based on pure tone / sound stuff.) So respect to you for more deliberately trying it out!

                                      (After the fact of playing obviously you notice these things - patterns - and may investigate "why", but generally in the moment it is instinctive. πŸ™‚ )

                                        @Cognessence @sean_ae @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee Oh yeah, of course! By the way, that figure, with fresher ears and at half-speed, pretty sure I'm now hearing right as Eβ™-F-Eβ™-Bβ™-D. 🫣

                                          @Cognessence what else have you got there? I still play my 3DO Gog games although I had to pause that for a year or so now due to work commitments. But I always go back to Heroes of Might and Magic 2, and 3 is ofc amazing - My dad made a whole map for it. I need to translate that into english. Then there are the Might and Magic 6-7-8 series rpg versions. Oh no let’s not restart them now
