    @kde @olivenolje @plasmamobile

    I hadn't heard until Plasma Mobile until now, I had only heard of the pinephone one. I am excited to hear more about the project development in the future!

    @ambiguous_yelp @kde @olivenolje @plasmamobile AFAIK the pinephone is the hardware (that can run plasma mobile or another interface) and plasma mobile is the software (that can run on the pinephone or on another device)

      @olivenolje @kde @fdroidorg @keepandroidopen Giving people false hope with an action that have no chance to have any meaningful result.

        @ambiguous_yelp @helloclippy buy a pixel phone and flash grapheneOS if you can't get a fairphone. Its what I did in Australia. I got the pixel 9a the last pixel with a released OS tree.

        @justincrozer You mustn't have read the thread fully - it isn't available in their country either

          @ambiguous_yelp correct I replied to your post because of follower hashtags I didn't realise it was a thread from how it was viewed.

            The preferred test hardware is OnePlus 6 and 6t these days.

              KDE supports the "Keep Android Open" campaign

              #Google will cut off independent developers to #Android if they do not register with Google first. This will kill independent platforms like @fdroidorg and severely impede FLOSS devs from creating apps for Android.

              @kde @fdroidorg @keepandroidopen Maybe let's port lineage OS and Ubuntu touch to more devices and let Google stagnate like the pond it's become? 🤔

                A lot of the time banking apps are just QoL features though, obviously ymmv especially globally, but in my experience you can get by using the bank website, debit card details and cash. Those who can live without banking apps in order to grow the linux mobile ecosystem: should do so

                @ambiguous_yelp @olivenolje some banking apps are almost required. Ex. some banks I'm with require it to do certain expected features, excluding withdrawal/deposit.

                I've also seen one provider (wish I remembered the name) that explicitly stated they'll close your account if the app is not used every 30 days or so...

                Hence why I have two phones...

                  @jessienab @olivenolje Ha thats ridiculous of them - if banks actually cared about 2FA for security they wouldn't use mobile phones for that they're too easily hacked; they'd insist on key fob devices instead.

                  Of course its actually about building a surveillance network and the banks get a cut of the profits

                      @toadofsky @kde @keepandroidopen https://keepandroidopen.org/ has a section for users too.

                      Simple example, you want to install a nice app your friend made/recommended, you run stock Android, installation is rejected. The end.

                          Apple and Google, 2 choices for apps from where we sit, and both are partners in crime. END MONOPOLIES. Capitalism has become extortion when conglomerated.

                          Tear everything apart and build it from scratch, the entire system has been subverted to evil.
