Okay. Step 1 is accomplished: Theo is in the cat carrying box. Now comes the hard part, carrying him all the way up the steps to the car in the parking lot in the rain. Just carrying him in the box from the bedroom to the door was difficult.
Edit to add: I'm only bleeding a little bit -- I didn't notice it until after I posted.

@joyce How miserable. Taking a cat to the vet in the rain is a horrid experience. I hope you can make it safely with minimal injuries.
