    But I really don't think it's obvious to normal people that the thing we call Artificial Intelligence is not intelligent.

      This continues to be my number one gripe. The problem isn't the technology of language models and certainly not of all machine learning, which has real substantial value. The problem remains almost entirely the hype overselling it as way more than it is to further advance Big Tech social control.

        I honestly think most of the hype would deflate in a hurry if we consistently said machine learning or LLM or whatever term is more meaningful, instead of conjuring up images of sci-fi entities taking over the world.
