The latter part is absolutely true.

But I really don't think it's obvious to normal people that the thing we call Artificial Intelligence is not intelligent.

The problem isn't the technology of language models and certainly not of all machine learning, which has real substantial value. The problem remains almost entirely the hype overselling it as way more than it is to further advance Big Tech social control.
