@jacadamia @pluralistic welcome! I migrated when the fascist bought twitter to influence public opinion and never looked back in regret. I feel more safe, healthier, welcome and after a while my feed was similar without the bonehead replies.

Hi and welcome!
A lot of people who are new to the Fediverse find the initial experience rather sparse, which might turn them off, and that's not entirely unreasonable.
It helps to follow a lot of accounts, but slightly less obvious is that you can follow #HashTags as well. That will populate your feed with any post that uses any of the hash tags you follow, and is a great way to discover people who post about things you care about.

@jacadamia @pluralistic Welcome! The best thing for new people to do is just follow anyone who says anything even remotely interesting at first. You can always unfollow again later if it was a fluke.

@jacadamia @pluralistic welcome. Just follow a few hashtags for things you're interested in (or even don't know anything about). No algorithm here - people only see what their friends boost in chronological order. Boost anything you want others to see, thumbs up to say a thank you to the person who posted it. Block the occasional idiot (there aren't many) and mute the ones who post too much for you.

It might take a little longer to curate your feed, if migrating from elsewhere, but it's your feed to decide.
