@cmconseils I'll keep this handy to show to those who have children so they can leave a legacy behind and are against adoption. Makes it very clear how quickly your genes get diluted out into the general population.

Absolutely! Sometimes starting simple is the best way to understand genetics before diving into the chaos . I also think Mastodon is great for broadening my knowledge in so many different areas. -

My first guinea pig was an all black female. I told my parents I wanted to get a white male and breed gray babies.
Parents: "It doesn't work that way."
Guinea pigs: numerous lovely gray and gray & white babies.

@noodlemaz @BenjaminKlein @cmconseils Sounds like they're saying folk who are both against adoption and also hold their genes as somehow sacred will be shown this to prove their genealogy would be impure anyway unless they're into inbreeding so adoption would be better.

@noodlemaz @cmconseils I've read what I wrote a few times, not sure exactly how you read it? I'll try restate it.
I've met people who have children because they want to leave part of themselves behind when they die. I find that problematic. I think children are their own persons, and don't exist for the parents. Not to live out parents unfulfilled dreams nor as vessels for their genes. This picture illustrates how quickly our unique gene combination mixes out.

@BenjaminKlein @cmconseils ah I see. What came across to me was that your genes are super important so people should avoid adoption (and marrying eg other races...) to make sure their genetic legacy continues.
So yeah, sounded way more dodge than you'd meant it. -
