@Mimesatwork @thenarwhal What Musk's companies claim will happen and what actually does are two very distinct things...
Plus, even if there was no large debris making it to the ground, you would still have the problem of these deorbiting sats seeding the upper atmosphere with ozone-unfriendly metal oxides. The consequences of that will appear and be around long after Musk has made his money.

@Mimesatwork @thenarwhal sometimes. Those metal particles also have a big impact on the ozone layer, same with the parts from the rockets, some of which fall back to the ground.

@thenarwhal I don’t understand how it is that “Space” is not legally known as an “environment” such as the Oceans and Seas which have treaties and protections that used to have some safety, health and pollution understandings between all countries. Or at least the major players.
The idea that one majority producer of satellites now controls the launch and orbits of the majority of the WORLD’S production and launches and without public records is staggeringly obvious as a global risk to all in the Ozone and Kepler effects now known. And nowhere in the world is there any real control of the activities of SpaceX. Stunning. Greed of Capitalism knows no limits.

@thenarwhal you know…I won’t advocate it. But it would sure be damn nice if someone put up a satellite which would cause… on second thought, where are my #kuiper manners?! A ground based laser. Any tom dick and harry who puts up a sat pays for it to be shot down, controllably and after a set time period, by a central organization.
