    @fname I wish I could find a price from 2019. I am sure they were $5/6/7 for regular, lean, extra lean.

      Went shopping.
      One pack of lean ground beef (that used to serve four, now 2.5) went from $9 last week to $9.50 today. (Save-On Foods - Jimmy Pattinson Group)

      That “pact” the grocery billionaires signed is working great.

      I am sure Carney is seized with affordability for Canadians while he flies around the world promising secure oil for Europe.

      Anyway, more cowbell.

          @chris Ah damn. And the ripple effects from war will cause prices to creep up even further soon.

            @thegreenpagesBC if you have never seen the clip, it is worth a youtube search for "More Cowbell SNL" an iconic Christopher Walken moment

              @gamergull oh I'm sure if anyone asks Jimmy tomorrow he'd blame "The Straits of Hormuz" already. Never waste a crisis!

                  The 🍊 🤡 did not:
                  1) make a useless grocery pact
                  2) promise to make life more affordable for Canadians

                  The war did not raise the price of beef by 5% in a week, don’t believe it as it is absolute nonsense. This is simple price gouging, and our Prime Minister is globe trotting instead of putting in measures that might limit the pain of Canadians.

                  Shirking responsibility for the things you *can* control is not a good look.

                    @chris

                    The only way to fight the billionaires is to buy from the producers, shippers.

                    There are butchers, farmers, on #VI. For beef, you need a deep freeze - preferably propane, or a battery / generator backup if electric - and buy a quarter of beef. That should be about 4-6 months supply.

                    I am collecting producers on the island for a buyer's club. Ping me.
