    Damn this is getting tiring

    Umbria region is now complaining about SNCF getting some high speed train paths, complaining the Diretissima (that’s important to Umbria) will be too congested

    I’d not even bank on SNCF being able to use the paths it’s allocated!

    Alta Velocità, l'Umbria in allerta: l'arrivo dei francesi mette a rischio i treni

    La Regione Umbria chiede un tavolo urgente con MIT, Antitrust e Regioni del Centro Italia dopo il parere sulle nuove tracce AV che potrebbe penalizzare i servizi regionali.

      Really, the amount of politicians’ hot air responding to rail industry hot air, and vice versa, gets excessive.

        @jon What *is* Umbria running on the Direttissima? It doesn't look like it connects much of its territory, unless this is about stuff that runs local in Umbria and then express to Rome?

        (EDIT: Okay, yeah, it's indeed the latter and somewhat hourly, too. I can understand their nervousness, even if it may not be all that reality-based)

          @HaTetsu @jon Yeah, there are Ancona - Orte - Roma Termini RV-services. Those need only 33 minutes between Tiburtina and Orte.

              @smveerman @HaTetsu with vMax 160, right?

              So as SNCF surely has to pay something to upgrade the regional trains for higher speeds! 🫣
