After years away, I was so impressed with Trixie I now run it on my laptop.
Ubuntu, sadly, has gone snap-crazy

to clarify, I don't run Mastodon, but my rpi-5 Trixie runs Pixelfed, Nextcloud, WordPress and Jellyfin, although jellyfin struggles with a few transcodings.
My laptop is no slouch, 16GB quad-Intel 2.6GHz yet with all the overhead and proxying of snaps, Ubuntu could take upwards of ten seconds to change context or open a plasma menu. I had to adapt to gnome, but that was relatively painless.
