    I swear every day I live in some kind of fantasy fairytale land up here in Eureka, CA along the Redwood Coast in northern California.

    This is literally the city park. I mean, deep redwoods, 10 minutes away from everyone’s house. It’s like stepping into another world. I keep expecting to see some Big Bad Wolf step out from behind a giant tree.

    That being said, there are indeed bears.

    They just don’t talk.

    As an artist, I can tell you that I am blessed with an overabundance of photo reference. Ha!

      @Coreyartus That is so, so beautiful! My older brother used to live up by Eureka, and he said that one of the most incredible things about it too. I've never been, but maybe one day!

        @dianemagras You should visit!! Play the tourist! There’s so much to enjoy here! I have a list the length of my arm of places to go see, drives to enjoy, and markets to explore. There’s so much art here, too. It’s a hidden gem, honestly. At least that’s what I believe. 😊

          @Coreyartus Nice!
          Our cool wild city parks are mostly chaparral down here in SD county.

            @CWilbur Having lived in SD for thirty years, I can safely attest that the chaparral has its own special beauty. Many a Sunday afternoon was spent driving through North and East County enjoying the giant rock terrain!

            And we have a giant half mile stand of Eucalyptus trees along the 101 highway that skirts the bay here, so it’s like home!! LOL!

              @Coreyartus Yup! Eucalyptus from stem to stern in this state. haha

              And yes, the chaparral is beautiful as it changes through the seasons Deerweed and Mustard yellows to Buckwheat whites through late year Goldenbush. My thing is butterflies, and the wild areas support dozens of different species. And they’re here all year.
              Still, I love getting up to Oakland multiple times a year to see the forests and their flyers.

                    I am a Colorado Native surrounded by the beauty of nature; and in all honesty… I am a little envious of you. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏾

                      @Coreyartus yes! As someone that came from deep suburbia (a totally uniform subdivision built on a cornfield), I really appreciate the nature of the PNW. Our house is new but was built to accommodate the trees around us so I feel like I wake up in a forest every day.
