This is literally the city park. I mean, deep redwoods, 10 minutes away from everyone’s house. It’s like stepping into another world. I keep expecting to see some Big Bad Wolf step out from behind a giant tree.

That being said, there are indeed bears.

They just don’t talk.

As an artist, I can tell you that I am blessed with an overabundance of photo reference. Ha!

As someone that came from deep suburbia (a totally uniform subdivision built on a cornfield), I really appreciate the nature of the PNW. Our house is new but was built to accommodate the trees around us so I feel like I wake up in a forest every day.

Eucalyptus from stem to stern in this state. haha

And yes, the chaparral is beautiful as it changes through the seasons Deerweed and Mustard yellows to Buckwheat whites through late year Goldenbush. My thing is butterflies, and the wild areas support dozens of different species. And they’re here all year.
Still, I love getting up to Oakland multiple times a year to see the forests and their flyers.

Many a Sunday afternoon was spent driving through North and East County enjoying the giant rock terrain!

And we have a giant half mile stand of Eucalyptus trees along the 101 highway that skirts the bay here, so it’s like home!! LOL!
