No F-150 in France?

No F-150 in France? US automakers complain the EU blocks big trucks.
European buyers aren't interested in full-size trucks; US car industry doesn't care.

@pdebruin Not too sure about that. Tons of Fords here. @arstechnica
@thejessiekirk @pdebruin @arstechnica Are you referring to the reaaonably sized care made and designed by Ford in Europe that you can't even buy in the US? Don't worry, it looks like they're mismanaging these into oblivion as well.
As for pickup trucks, I see very few around Germany, Netherlands, Belgium + some. Are they a thing elsewhere in Europe!? I hope not. -

I drove one of this beasts (not a F150, but a pickup) once and it was very disappointing. I mean my first and only own car was a small car with 75 HP and this thing had 350 HP so I thought it would be more impressive, but I drove it to the Autobahn kicked the gas and more or less nothing happened.

@arstechnica I mean it is big, but this is the only thing you can say about it, it’s neither practical (if you need space, you should get a van) nor is it any fun to drive. And then there’s the unnecessary waste of space.
The psychology behind why people drive cars like that is certainly interesting too. As a layman, terms like ‘suburban tank’ or ‘penis prosthesis’ spring to mind.

Europeans know this. Security, weather protection, economy, safety...
A neighbour has a Ford Maverick, which is smaller than an F150. He's an earthworks engineering contractor and it's his work vehicle, so the truck is always covered in mud. He has a genuine use of a truck. But even a Maverick doesn't really fit in his parking space.

@EugestShirley @GhostOnTheHalfShell @arstechnica the screeching sound of metal on stone, when this thing eventually has to back out, would be music to my ears.
@nowherefast @GhostOnTheHalfShell @arstechnica
My ears would cringe, but they often do. -

-
I can think of no bigger nightmare than trying to drive an F150 in Europe. They couldn't pay people to do that.
@RobotDiver
These things arrived in Australia about 10 years ago and now they're everywhere and banning them would cause an outcry. Best never let them in in the first place.
