@EUCommission To include (please) "free from the private ownership/control of oligarchs, also known as "press barons".
The better model for a free press is ownership by a Board of Trustees pledged to uphold basic principles of probity & objectivity. Presently sadly lacking in the United Kingdom, with calamitous consequences for citizens.

@Lykkerik @HarmBotjes @EUCommission Doğru has been at this for a while now. Before the "RED" rebranding he was a central figure in "Redfish" which the Russian state media channel RT has directly admitted was funded by them.
To me it seems clear enough that this really is a Russia-run operation and so the sanctioning is most likely about that more than anything else even if Doğru of course wants to try to use it to further Russia's goals too.

@ikuturso @HarmBotjes @EUCommission Hard to tell as I've seen no proof and he hasn't been allowed to get his case tried in court. RT is not prohibited in Norway. We hold free speech and freedom of the press in high regard.

@EUCommission Then why are pro-palestinian voices so oppressed in Germany? Why did Germany decline 3 places in the press freedom index?

@ikuturso @HarmBotjes @EUCommission Meanwhile politicians and media taking money to promote Israel and its genocide on Gaza is also sanctioned by the EU, but in the opposite meaning of the word.
