Bloody-nosed Beetle (Timarcha tenebricosa) - a large and flightless beetle that can often be seen in the daytime, especially in early spring. They feed on members of the bedstraw family, and there is plenty of Lady's Bedstaw and Hedge Bedstraw in the field I found this one in.They get their common name from a red liquid they produce when threatened. I don't tend to threaten beetles, so I've never actually seen it!#Nature #Wildlife #UKWildlife #Beetle #Insect

Just found this bee in my garden on the paving, looking very forlorn. Was walking a little bit, but a long way from any food source or shelter.Moved it to a largish clump of red dead nettle (Lamium purpureum) which is in flower.I think the bee is a hairy-footed flower bee (Anthophora plumipes) which the iRecord app seemed to agree - though need it to be positively identified by an expert.Quite the floofy cutie!
