A new day. A new chance to succeed.The ringing in my ears is loud this morning, but not loud enough to keep me from listening to the quiet sounds around me. The hush of a dawn slowly lighting the day. Fans in my computers. Water in the pipes.The cat jumping down from wherever he wasn't supposed to be. Mrs S has gone into the office today & the cats have retired for their post breakfast nap after a hard morning’s relaxing so peace reigns! No plans for today, I need to finish tracking down & filling the holes in the walls in the box room then sand the wood work ready to be painted. Good morning!It's yet another cold, rainy, drizzly, dismal, drismal day outside and I've been up for hours. I use my phone for an alarm clock, so it sits on a nightstand next to my bed all night. This morning at 4 a.m., Samsung decided to update it, and the phone lit up my bedroom and woke me. I never got back to sleep, so I got up.Today will be laundry and writing and staying in out of the weather. Have a good one, my friends, and keep on keeping on.#Today

The last 24 hours have been a family shitshow for reasons I haven't got the energy to explain, particularly in writing. Those of you who have followed our story can probably get a hint of some of the issues. Nevertheless, I've spent a fair bit of time today in the garden clearing some of the accumulated winter debris, and I've been cleaning and doing light maintenance on some of the bicycles. I've even got the project bike into a rideable state after about 18 months of being ignored! It was great to get some fresh air and be outside.Then I slept away the last of the afternoon. @MAJ1 good morning. We had sun yesterday too, some melt. I spent the day moving slush and making water move so it wouldn't refreeze. I may see my driveway again

I am back and working through the jet lag. My boss shared the bad news #today that some long-time colleagues will be let go, but at least my team is safe.The past two weeks were very tough and emotional of course, my mom's funeral, staying at my parents' house and sorting through her things. On the bright side, I haven't spent this much time alone with my dad in forever and we talked a lot about the past and present.I really hope he can manage on his own and with my sister's help. His dad went downhill very fast after his wife was gone. It must be so hard living alone after 50 years with a partner.

There are a bunch of things around me claiming it’s spring. Games with lovely pink and green theming, brands with their spring menu. I’m here bundled up for a -29°C (-20°F) wind chill, looking down the street, and I think the rest of the world is a little premature. Stay warm, friends. Reminders to have a positive thought in the morning and to write a haiku.You'd think it would be habit after all this time.And yet.Sometimes I go to check off a task, only to find that I'd forgotten to do it yesterday.
