Pack it up, a macOS rant.I wanted to try a piece of proprietary software on my macbook, and the only way to install it is via the provided .pkg installer.I don't like it, and now want to uninstall it again.Lo and behold. Since the developer does not ship an uninstaller, there is no easy way to get rid of this piece of software. The developer lists a bunch of directories I can clean up in their FAQ.pkutil can show metadata and file lists, but to remove the package I have to glue that shit together with some awk and xargs sudo rm rm?The fuck?#apple #macOS #rant

@guyjantic My doctor does this annually. They check to make sure I am taking Adderall and test for meth, barbituates, benzos, cocaine, pot, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, and pcp, as well as creatinine, pH, and oxidants (tampering). I'm not poor and until this year had excellent insurance. (It's still better than most.)

Software Architecture RantCohesion and Coupling are the same concept. If we think it is good we call it cohesion. If it turns out to be bad, we call it (tightly) coupled.I'm not convinced that you can always tell the difference up front!#SoftwareEngineering #Rant

An app gets a new feature. It shows a popup at launch. I have no need for that feature, I choose not to turn it on. "We'll remind you later!"Fuck you, app. I said NO. I am aware they have the feature. I don't want nor need it. This will not change a month later when you show the popup again. How has this shit become acceptable? I will happily fire away 1 star reviews until the morale improves. #ux #rant

When they say school prepares you for life, you'd think group work assignments for example are lessons about working with other people. From what I personally learned was often that dread of being randomly assigned with someone and then having to work with a person whose work morale differs a lot from mine.Strong detestment of such things followed me to work life, especially when I started my own company 8 years ago. I absolutely thrive in an environment where I'm in control of all the variables, being able to balance work-free time life and put my full focus on a project from start to finish, then take a week off and do my own things. What really however wears me down are co-op projects where I have to deal with customer's other suppliers, often integrating what I've done into their services. Dealing with some companies is like pulling teeth. We may have a meeting where everything is agreed, then they just ghost me. It's agreed that I send sample data and they'll give feedback on it, but they never do. When prodded, they'll say they will get back to me. The next contact I get is an angry call from the customer two weeks later asking why nothing's happening. #rant
