#IshambardPresents Time Commando - PS1Time Commando, on paper, sounds like a fun game. A time travelling beat-em up, as you go through numerous eras to stop a virus from corrupting a time machine.The game falls apart immediately when you wrestle with the controls to attack opponents. I never got the feel for it properly. Dodging and blocking was a challenging thing, and closing the gap can feel impossible when the enemy has a weapon with greater range.Muddle this in with tank controls, fixed camera angles, obnoxiously tight combat areas and not being able to backtrack to more favourable angles or terrain.The game is hard as well. Encounters feel like a puzzle of where do I stand, what weapon do I use and knowledge of spawn triggers and locations. It's a Commando crawl through broken glass, where each attempt may see you get a little further as you refine your approach, or you might get unlucky and stun locked to death. #IshambardPresents - Chase the Express (PS1)I love a game with a silly title.I especially love good games with silly titles.Released in 2000 by Sugar and Rockets, Chase the Express is what happens you replace your Resident Evil zombies with Metal Gear Solid genome soliders and get them to hijack a trainI would say it is a mixture of those two games, but it is light on the stealth elements, despite having an warning status on screen, you don't have to worry about an endless flood of goons.The targeting system is a little weird in this game, takes a little getting used to and you may need to wrestle with your angle to get the lock on, but once you get a feel for it this is honestly one of the better PS1 games I have played in a while.With multiple endings, and 2nd scenario (which changes a boss fight, adds an extra story beat, nothing too much) there is a lot to enjoy here.The main question though.Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the French Ambassador?!#PS1 #RetroGames
