#OTD 12 March 1815, Anders Ersson Forss was born in the parish of Björnlunda, Södermanland. His father and brother Carl took the surname Nyström, while Anders and Lars took the name Forss. Three older siblings died in childhood. The youngest brother Lars, 20, froze to death on Anders birthday, 12 March 1844, while out in the weather. He was buried in May, so it is likely his body was not found for several weeks. Only Anders, my ancestor, and his brother Carl Nyström were left of six siblings. Both have many living descendants today.#genealogy

#OtD 12 Mar 1983 21 Asian workers at the UK Aire Valley Yarns went on strike after the firing of a union activist. Bosses fired them and used police to escort scabs. #OtD 12 Mar 1951 300,000 workers staged a general strike in Barcelona to protest grievances with the Franco dictatorship. #OtD 11 Mar 1946 striking steelworkers at the Timken Co in Columbus, OH, successfully defended their plant against a second attempt by employers to bring in scab replacement workers. #OtD 11 Mar 1975 there was an attempted far right coup in Portugal, following the overthrow of the dictatorship the year prior.
