yahoo news | The Epstein files’ cottage industry by undefinedThe unprecedented public release of Jeffrey Epstein’s files has sparked a rapid‑fire “cottage industry” among elite lawyers. Hundreds of people whose names appear—whether as high‑profile figures, peripheral contacts, or merely a mention in an email—have rushed to retain criminal‑defense and white‑collar attorneys to manage the fallout, protect reputations, and navigate congressional oversight. At the same time, major universities, corporations, and nonprofit organizations have hired top white‑shoe firms to conduct internal investigations, vet donors, and issue recommendations on policies ranging from donor‑vetting to conflict‑of‑interest protocols.Among the most visible retainers are medical influencer Peter Attia, who denies wrongdoing over “embarrassing” emails with Epstein; supermodel Naomi Campbell, represented by Hollywood litigator Martin Singer; and Epstein’s former accountant Richard Kahn, who has turned to former federal prosecutor Daniel Ruzumna. Institutions such as Bard College, Barnard College, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic board have each hired renowned firms—WilmerHale, Cleary Gottlieb, O’Melveny & Myers—to review communications and relationships with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The House Oversight Committee continues to subpoena witnesses, including longtime assistants Sarah Kellen and Lesely Groff, as well as political aides linked to Bill Clinton and other prominent figures. The surge of legal work extends beyond client representation; some lawyers have become newsmakers themselves. Cheryl Mills, a longtime Clinton confidante, faced intense questioning, while Michael Levy’s blunt admonition of Les Wexner during a deposition went viral, highlighting the high‑stakes, often theatrical nature of these inquiries. With the Justice Department still correcting redaction errors and additional names likely to surface, the demand for specialized counsel is expected to persist, cementing this brief but intense boom in white‑collar defense and investigative law.Read more: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/white-collar-lawyers-newest-gig-110000956.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall#jeffreyepstein #peterattia #naomicampbell #ghislainemaxwell

qwant news | Jes Staley's wife files for divorce after ex-Barclays exec admitted to affair with Epstein staffer: report by undefinedJes Staley’s wife, Debora Staley, filed a sealed divorce petition in New York on March 13, 2026, ending a decades‑long marriage to the former Barclays chief executive. The filing comes roughly a year after Staley’s public testimony about an affair with a staff member of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, during which he admitted that the relationship put his marriage “at risk” but that he was trying to be “open and honest.” A lawyer for Staley declined to comment for the press. The divorce comes amid the fallout from Staley’s long‑standing ties to Epstein. In 2025, British regulators fined Staley about $1.4 million and barred him from the United Kingdom’s financial industry for downplaying the closeness of his relationship with the convicted sex‑trafficker. Although Staley repeatedly claimed he knew nothing of Epstein’s “monstrous activities,” he acknowledged a consensual sexual encounter with an Epstein staffer and was forced to step down as Barclays CEO in 2021. JPMorgan, where Staley spent three decades, sued him in 2023 for allegedly covering up information that could have led the bank to drop Epstein as a client; the case was settled that year.Further court documents revealed additional, unsettling details about Staley’s connection to Epstein. Emails show Epstein once asked a woman to purchase a “Snow White” costume, a request later referenced in a light‑hearted message from Staley to Epstein. Epstein also corresponded with the Staleys’ daughter, Alexa, in 2016, probing whether her father might be considered for the Treasury secretary post under the Trump administration. Those exchanges, along with the broader investigation into Epstein’s network, underscore the depth of Staley’s entanglement with the late financier and the personal repercussions now reflected in his pending divorce.Read more: https://nypost.com/2026/03/20/business/jes-staleys-wife-files-for-divorce-after-ex-barclays-exec-admitted-to-affair-with-epstein-staffer-report/#jesstaley #barclays #jeffreyepstein #jpmorgan

yahoo news | Epstein’s attorney testifies he was unaware of financier’s sexual abuse | Arkans... by undefinedJeffrey Epstein’s longtime personal lawyer, Darren Indyke, appeared before the House Oversight Committee on March 19, 2026 and told lawmakers he had “no knowledge whatsoever” of the financier’s sexual abuse of under‑age girls. In his opening statement Indyke said he would have quit if he had known Epstein was trafficking women and minors, and he maintained that he was unaware of any wrongdoing even after Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The testimony echoed earlier statements from other Epstein associates—including former accountant Richard Kahn, billionaire Les Wexner and former President Bill Clinton—who have also denied knowledge of the abuse.Committee Republicans pressed Indyke on why he continued to work for Epstein after the 2008 plea, and Democrats expressed frustration, accusing the witnesses of taking a defensive posture and possibly covering up the crimes. Both Indyke and Kahn, who serve as executors of Epstein’s estate, have agreed to a class‑action settlement of up to $35 million with survivors, without admitting wrongdoing. Lawmakers are also pursuing additional documents from the estate, hoping to obtain hard‑drive data and other records that could shed light on the broader network of individuals tied to Epstein, including a high‑profile lawsuit filed by survivor Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell. The hearings have become increasingly partisan. Democrats have raised an uncorroborated allegation linking President Donald Trump to Epstein, while Republicans argue that the focus on Trump is a “false narrative.” The committee’s investigation, which began with some bipartisan cooperation, now faces heated disputes over document requests and the scope of testimony. Chairman James Comer warned that seeking overlapping information from the estate would be a waste of time, yet Democratic members say the hard‑drive data guarded by private investigators is “of great interest” and essential for full transparency for survivors.Read more: https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2026/mar/21/epsteins-attorney-testifies-he-was-unaware-of/#jeffreyepstein #darrenindyke #houseoversightcommittee #ghislainemaxwell #jamescomer

yahoo news | White-collar lawyers’ newest gig: Representing people in the Epstein files by undefinedThe public release of Jeffrey Epstein’s email files has sparked a sudden hiring boom among elite white‑collar attorneys. Scores of people whose names appear—whether they are high‑profile figures, peripheral contacts, or even individuals with a common name—are turning to criminal‑defense and reputational‑damage lawyers to navigate intense media scrutiny and potential professional fallout. Institutions ranging from universities to corporate boards are also retaining top law firms to conduct internal investigations, verify employee identities, and assess any undisclosed ties to Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. The wave of legal work has become a niche industry at a time when many in the white‑collar bar feared a dry spell amid shifting federal priorities.Prominent examples illustrate the breadth of the response. Medical influencer Peter Attia, model Naomi Campbell, and Epstein’s former accountant Richard Kahn have each secured high‑profile counsel to counter embarrassing or potentially defamatory references in the files. Academic and cultural organizations—Bard College, Barnard College, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics board—have hired firms such as WilmerHale, Cleary Gottlieb, and O’Melveny & Myers to vet communications, review donor relationships, and produce recommendations on policy and conflict‑of‑interest practices. Even the World Economic Forum engaged independent counsel to investigate its leadership after the scandal surfaced. The surge in legal activity reflects both the immediate need for damage control and longer‑term concerns about accountability. Congressional oversight committees are actively seeking testimony from anyone named in the documents, prompting many to pre‑emptively secure representation. Lawyers themselves have become newsmakers, from seasoned Clinton‑era advisor Cheryl Mills to the outspoken Michael Levy, who famously warned his client Les Wexner during a deposition. As the investigation continues, the reliance on white‑collar counsel underscores how the fallout from the Epstein files has reshaped the landscape of reputation management and corporate‑governance scrutiny.Read more: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/white-collar-lawyers-newest-gig-110000956.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall#jeffreyepstein #ghislainemaxwell #wilmerhale

yahoo news | As New Mexico investigates, questions are raised about Epstein's links to the... by undefinedPolice have begun the first search of Jeffrey Epstein’s former New Mexico hideaway, Zorro Ranch, looking for evidence of sexual abuse that may have occurred at the Old West‑themed property. The investigation is being overseen by a state‑appointed “truth commission,” the first of its kind in the United States, and it is drawing attention to powerful Democratic figures who continued to meet with Epstein and accept his campaign donations long after he was listed as a registered sex offender.Epstein contributed just over $160,000 to New Mexico races between 2002 and 2014, often becoming the largest outside donor even after his 2008 conviction. Former governor Bill Richardson and former attorney general Gary King both had documented contacts with Epstein; King’s campaign returned a 2014 donation after press scrutiny, and both men later claimed they had no knowledge of any wrongdoing tied to the ranch. Congressman Teresa Leger Fernandez has publicly questioned why federal, state and local authorities never investigated complaints of abuse at the property and why a 2019 federal child‑trafficking probe was told to stand down. The ranch, officially called “The Victoria’s Secret Ranch” by locals, was bought in 1993 by Epstein for about $3.75 million from the family of three‑time governor Bruce King; Bruce’s son Gary was a party to the sale. Epstein allegedly used the 7,500‑acre site to host scientists, politicians, billionaires and celebrities, and emails in the DOJ files show references to “the girls” and to “masseuses” hired for the property. FBI agents visited the ranch in 2007 and questioned staff, but New Mexico law‑enforcement agencies say they received no information about crimes. The state attorney general reopened the probe in February, while the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI declined to comment.Read more: undefined#jeffreyepstein #newmexico #zorroranch #billrichardson #fbi

@blogdiva "Controlled opposition" sounds like a conspiracy theory, except now it's extremely obvious that's exactly what happened. Now I'm wondering how much more there was to that story than just Chomsky.Chomsky was a model for the US left for decades: criticize, but self-censor. In the end that makes you just an extra spicy character on The West Wing.

IF after some further investigation &actual fair due process, ol' Bill is found to have actually paticipated in sexual assaults, or even just aided, abetted or ignored reporting these, then I am all good with him metaphorically being tossed into the wood chipper. Someone needs to go first in order to get some greater way overdue accountability going for what seems an insanely large group of abusers and enablers of abuse.
