@Willow I waited until I was nearly 40, there was a lot of basic things which held me back, I knew I was trans much earlier (20s?) but I didn't want to inconvenience others and I was just really afraid to do it and it was easy to find excuses as to why I wasn't really trans. I did finally gain a better perspective by researching it more and being honest with myself.
