@cataplin Agreed. Many of my ancestors kept records of inventory and purchases. They also documented genetic experiments creating hybrid varieties of plants they grew.

#OTD 16 April 1890, Archie Franklin Maddox was born to Al Maddox and Lizzie Lake in Kingman County, Kansas. He was the youngest child, with four older sisters, including my great-grandmother. No family stories were shared about how he was treated by his sisters, leading me to suspect that the girls were not very kind to their little brother. The family moved to their Oklahoma homestead after the 1893 land rush. Archie became a farmer and married Glenn Vesta Purvines. They had 10 children before deciding to live at opposite ends of their house.#genealogy

@bethroots My daughter did some research on that side of the family years ago. She was never able to find corroboration of the story.

@LJClements8 To the best of my knowledge Scotland didn't have civil records until 1855. It's sad, as the church records for deaths are incomplete and vague.
