Durante le perquisizioni nelle due abitazioni in uso alle due vittime, nel quartiere Alessandrino a Roma e a Ponte Mammolo, sono stati sequestrati documenti definiti 'interessanti' da chi indaga ma sulla cui natura viene mantenuto il più stretto riserbo. Nei filmati acquisiti, l'indagato pronunciava in dialetto africano frasi dal chiaro tenore intimidatorio, manifestando la volontà di uccidere un altro utente dello stesso social network e istigando così i suoi follower. A destare particolare attenzione, anche i riferimenti a tematiche religiose fondamentaliste, accompagnate da espressioni riconducibili alla retorica jihadista.. L'attività investigativa è partita dalla segnalazione di un utente di TikTok che aveva denunciato la presenza di video dal contenuto fortemente allarmante. Dai primi accertamenti è stato possibile identificare l'utilizzatore del profilo segnalato, molto attivo sulla piattaforma e seguito da oltre 100.000 followers.
