I'm excited about the #Artemis 2 mission, and also remind myself how much less ambitious of a mission it is than Apollo 8 was; closest approach of Artemis will be ~6500 KM (further than mainland USA is wide) as it flies by. Apollo 8 orbited the moon ten times at an altitude of around 120 KM.Yes, four people instead of three, plus a bunch of extra science. Hopefully, it's the start of something cool.

@paco As I posted on here earlier, watching the Artemis launch, that's the future I was promised as a kid.Not this petty bullshit caused by pathetic old dinosaurs the world is dealing with.

@cmconseils Been a while, and I'm not going to turn down any new pretty pictures or cool science.It's just a shame the whole event is so dreadfully silly at conception. The entire endeavour is based on revisiting past glories like a faded sports-kid. At least the showing-off during the cold war was based on explaining that an arbitrary payload could be plopped down any place your adversary chose.

I wonder if NASA had to have a chat with their employees this morning working on the launch of Artemis II to remind them that even though today is April 1st, the launch of astronauts into space is *not* the right time nor place to be doing pranks. #Artemis
