I think the idea of "online dating" as such is flawed at its core and you can't fix it by making it privacy-respectful.Without putting emphasis on dating, pressuring the userbase in this direction and letting things flow naturally, it would be just social media and we already have that.The best we can do to encourage people getting involved romantically on Fedi is developing some sort of etiquette for it — IMO it's a problem seeking non-technological solution.

@lamoufette Your mastodon account can get activities from Funkwhale only if mastodon supports Funkwhale activities. Actually the two software focus on very different content so interoperability is not yet implemented. Funkwhale has a browser app. You can pick an instance here https://www.funkwhale.audio/join/

the thing is, i can work with this but what are the chances of this stuff ever getting fixed? do i want to keep spending money on upgrades if basic workflows remain a struggle?

@Larvitz @hbauer that's the reason why I have two installations: I test on the "secondary" one before upgrading the main one. If everything is fine, I switch all the traffic to the secondary one and upgrade the first one, too.
