@trwnh as a paranoid person, I sometimes wonder what would happen if schema.org received a court order to partially censor its schema in certain regions of the world. Or inject a backdoor key. If it prevents people from sending memes across the geofence, it’s bad.

@vermaden I ignored the political layer on purpose. I just had a couple of wines and wanted to see "what happens if I..." and then frankensteined a RHEL that boots with rEFInd on a ZFS root.. And (after patching serious parts of convert2rhel, removing sanity check functions), it did work and boot I still wouldn't trust my actual data to that system and my personal infrastructure runs ons FreeBSD (Server) and OpenBSD (Firewalls)

@soleluke @westhisup Same setup, Reolink + Frigate + Home Assistant. Reolink cameras have built-in object detection (person, car, pet) but it's local. They don't require anything involved to enable RTSP or other open streaming protocols.

@mttaggart as much as i thoroughly detest every link in the chain that made this Ars article possible--from the asshat who made the agent which submitted the PR to the asshats at Ars--question 3 in particular still made me gasp involuntarily. It's such a great line of questioning. Reframing AI hallucinations like this sometimes feels like the only way to make fence-sitters come down. "If you had a coworker who was completely wrong 10% of the time when you asked them a question... would you ask them questions anymore?" has been how I've gotten through to a few people in my life.
