Beginning in 2008, I began to recognize a returning pair of Canada #Geese on my backyard marsh. @Lstn2urmama

They mate for life, live 10 to 25 years, & return to nesting areas. It's possible that it's the same pair?
I named them Gail and Gordon.

Goslings grow really fast. At first, it's difficult to find them with your camera. The bright sunlight on my view screen, and their neutral blending color makes them invisible. In a week, they start getting yellow.

Mom brings them closer to me every day

So, since I've been tracking *Gail & Gordon*, they've returned to my backyard every spring. While watching, they stay within running distance to the ocean. Another week, & there will be goose-poop on my patio. Sometimes a gosling wanders on when I'm shooting photos.

Going back a week, here's how they know I'm no threat?
As she brings her tiny venerable Goslings up into my yard from the ocean, my music can be heard. There's a lot of noise in the yard, yet she brings them into my backyard anyway #Video

One year, something disturbed an egg, it rolled out of the nest & she hatched an odd number that year.
Her goslings have had their own nests; last count, a few years back, there were 52 in one flock and 35 in another.

They go elsewhere when grown. Thankfully.

Which brings me back to this year's #nesting.
Eggs always hatch by mid-late May.
I watch daily, walk slowly to Mother Goose on #nest. I believe it's still Gail, but last year bird flu affected Gordon and she may have a new mate.

@Alison When I hunted, I'd barely have my deer hung and folks were looking for a steak. When I stopped hunting, I had my last one too. funny about that. I like it. I'd hunt again if I was a younger man. These days, just filling the freezer with meat is a good reason

@Rasta Filling the freezer with meat was indeed why he hunted. Wife at home and two kids.
He did go with the guys in later years. I found some sketches he did while sitting in the bush and watching them.

Beginning in 2008, I began to recognize a returning pair of Canada #Geese on my backyard marsh. @Lstn2urmama

They mate for life, live 10 to 25 years, & return to nesting areas. It's possible that it's the same pair?
I named them Gail and Gordon.

@Rasta They should of been much friendlier if same pair ...

@Rasta Filling the freezer with meat was indeed why he hunted. Wife at home and two kids.
He did go with the guys in later years. I found some sketches he did while sitting in the bush and watching them.

@Alison I always hated the cold. I'd go in, get my deer quickly and go wit my father (when he was alive) to get him a deer so he stay out of the woods. I made my wife get a license too, so I could bring her deer out 😜
