Yesterday morning, it was sleeting in the city, the mountains masked, so I headed up the canyon.
We’re supposed to warm to spring temps again, but not yet.
My longed for hike in the snow? I climbed Mt. Sentinel in a snowstorm! It was hard, but wondrous.

That looks like a beautiful wintry hike!@TimKStanton Oh, it was! The hike up to the saddle accounted for most of the view. At the summit was strange, like standing in a gray void. I couldn't see anything beyond the few trees that surrounded the summit. I've been up there before, but it was never like that.

It is interesting that we all like to go up to a summit for the great views. But then, in these conditions where the visibility is severely limited, it is a different special experience. It becomes mysterious and magical being up there where you can only see nearby features.

Hope your lungs held up on the ascent!@TimKStanton I had to push myself, and took a lot of breaks. This was longer than any hike this year, and in several inches of snow (6-inches higher up).
Traction was good. It was a rare wet snow, but more work.
I’ve suffered no ill effects. In fact, I flew down.
It was strangely familiar, yet unfamiliar, a known scene repainted, and in some cases erased or colors converted to monochrome.
This was the summit, the surrounding peaks (University, Woody) gone.
