@pronounshe If you’ve decided to read them in order, I’d recommend sticking to that and not skipping ahead.
Not necessarily because of recurring characters cropping up (I can’t remember if any do in Pyramids) but because Pratchett gradually introduces you to different aspects of how the Discworld works - and the Discworld itself develops and changes - as the books go on
@Lemlems Nice! Thank you for the insight. I did end up going with Pyramids. @ravensrod suggested that as a matter of world building. And going in order really satisfies my desire for order in general.

Advice sought. I've been reading #TerryPratchett #DiscWorld books in order starting with book one, The Color Of Magic. If you're a Discworld fan, you know The Color Of Magic is a "Wizards" book
Just finishing up book six, Wyrd Sisters. (A "Witches" book.)
Book seven, the next one, is considered a "Standalone", Pyramids. Are there shy characters in the previous books at all?
Book eight, "Guards! Guards!" Is a "City Watch" book. I understand there are characters in that book I've already encountered.
I'm tempted to jump there. Unless there are some character appearances or some other tie-ins, regardless of how trivial, in Pyramids further on.

@pronounshe The books are fairly stand alone and I don't think there is a clear reading order, I've seen a lot of diffrent suggestions over the years but if you want some expert advive I'd have a look here: https://www.discworldemporium.com/reading-order/

@pronounshe they, the books, are great in any sequence. If you read them in the published order, you follow pTerrys mind in making them

The second time through it gave me The Color Of Magic. Which is the book I started with.

@pronounshe I started with the order of published, but a lot of people recommend reading by gang, wizards and witches and so on... But I think perhaps because I started with the wizards they're still my favourites, but the withes are great too, then comes Moist Von Lipwig who I assumes drools a lot since his name basically tells us his moustache is wet
