The Southern Poverty Law Center does excellent work fighting hate groups. Republicans have long complained that the SPLC is overly leftist and partisan because the #SPLC investigates and reports on white supremacist groups. I have been a longtime supporter of the SPLC and could immediately see the BS in the Trump DOJ's indictment of the SPLC this week. 1/2

Andrew Weissmann, former chief of the Fraud Section in the DOJ, wrote an article about the weakness and blatant partisanship of the indictment. Todd Blanche, Trump's former personal lawyer and now the acting United States attorney general, is weaponizing the DOJ. This case won't stand, but it's already done what it was intended--casting doubt on an honest group fighting hate in the US. 2/2

They don't really care if they can win. They care about using power to disrupt and to cost money to orgs that help people they don't want helped.
