@DulceMaria @jeffjarvis what you call “ messing with paywalls” is what honest people pay for our independent and investigative journalism. What has to be paid for so that we can do our work: in this case, my interview with Robert Kagan. DER SPIEGEL, the New York Times, the Atlantic - we will all die if people don’t pay for our work.

@bredow @jeffjarvis Rafaela, thank you for your perspective. I will remove the link I posted. I don’t want you to die before your time.

@DulceMaria @jeffjarvis yes, I can (and did) that - but Jeff sounded as if there was an official Der Spiegel english version.

@DulceMaria @jeffjarvis thank you! You did something good for yourself, too, because removing the link saved you from legal trouble…

@bredow
yeah i will - just tell the smart marketing people to let customers buy single articles for a dollar or euro instead of forcing them into expensive and longterm subscriptions and it will work.potential customers keep requesting it but publishers keep ignoring it.
that is also a hugely better price per word than any subscription.

I couldn't get in the article without acceptin trackers
and can't find the english version
But I found this recent interview to Robert Kagan :
‘The United States is now a hostile and potentially predatory nation’, says conservative historian | CNN
In a new column in The Atlantic, Robert Kagan writes that Donald Trump “managed in one year to destroy the American order that was.”

@lazyb0y I've actually been advocating an invisible pass-through micro-payments idea for years now, but it would require carriers, content providers, and third-party financial facilitators to agree on a framework, and I appreciate how complicated that would be. But I still believe it's doable.
Basically, you'd pay maybe a few cents for some single article, per view, and that would be billed to your ISP, who would then bill you. The amounts are small enough that most ppl wouldn't notice or care.
