The 1st lock that I tried picking with proper tools took a couple minutes. It was a trigger lock on a cable. You would take seconds. -
@feike I'd argue it's the guns. Take those away and gun lobbyists are just rich, white, powerful, angry dudes without guns.

"Kid accidentally shoots parent/friend/self with dad's gun" is one I see regularly.

@alice So, don't make the gun hand-held. Mount it stationary where it points at the expected locations of the modelled attacker, and nowhere else. It's a win-win: it blesses the gun nuts' shrivelled little hearts, and it also ticks all the bullet points of the popular attack model.

What kind of time delay? Like you wait x minutes before it'll unlock, or only unlocks at certain times? -

Between that and keeping ammo stored separately in its own locked box, the odds of accidental or impulse shootings go way down.

@alice that's why I use a bow, the kid safety is how hard it is to string for someone that is not knowledgeable and strong enough
