    @alice
    The #NRA is right
    #guns dont kill people; their lobbying kills people, because guns are still far to easy to get.

    @feike I'd argue it's the guns. Take those away and gun lobbyists are just rich, white, powerful, angry dudes without guns.

      @alice I don't think time-delay locks are consistent with the popular idea of what the attack model designed for "I want guns in my home!" looks like.

      @riley "cowboy defends home from masked attacker who, as it turns out, deserved to be shot" isn't a headline I think I've ever seen.

      "Kid accidentally shoots parent/friend/self with dad's gun" is one I see regularly.

        @alice So, don't make the gun hand-held. Mount it stationary where it points at the expected locations of the modelled attacker, and nowhere else. It's a win-win: it blesses the gun nuts' shrivelled little hearts, and it also ticks all the bullet points of the popular attack model.

          @riley maybe we can just give all the gun nuts toy guns instead, and they can run around like little boys yelling "bang!" at each other, and we can all pretend they're doing a good job of keeping us safe.

              @alice By lessons from Tom Sawyer, though, it's important to not just hand the toy guns out; one has to make the gun nuts pay for them, or they wouldn't value them.

                    @riley Last time I checked, one didn't need to be an ICE agent to try to commit burglary.

                      What kind of time delay? Like you wait x minutes before it'll unlock, or only unlocks at certain times?

                          @FritzAdalis after you put the code in it doesn't unlock for like 15 minutes.

                          Between that and keeping ammo stored separately in its own locked box, the odds of accidental or impulse shootings go way down.
