@pluralistic the first time I came across Dawkins I thought he was a prick. I think it’s because, fairly regardless of the quality of his argument, he decided to be an arse about it, as well as arrogant. Another 2 decades have definitely not changed my mind.

He was never a leader, he is too self absorbed, to narcissistic in my opinion to be a "leader", he may have had a few interesting ideas at some point in the past but let's just say he was a prolific idea guy and nothing more; he's like way past sell-by (and good-until) date.
