@tsrono Thanks! I might have already enjoyed this one but I don’t know if I checked the whole thing. I now have an exciting list of things to listen to today in my break from work. Looking forward.

@elifyalvac if something a bit less beat-driven is of interest, i still enjoy listening to my drone release - 5 hours of daily drones done in December some years ago - they're not all gems but it's an interesting set of stuff. good for background/dropping in wherever & such as there's no narrative arc or anything intended: https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/decoi-ei

@elifyalvac i see i see! i i'm going to try & design a 'system' w/ my hardware gear. idk how far i'll get but should be an interesting endeavor! DSP is so so deep & vast, there's a fair good bit of info and research out there about it at least, tho i can't say i've really read anything good personally (got a Max For Live book i've temporarily sidelined. it's good, just not got far enough in)

this one's got a pretty diverse collection of song types, some raw & heavy 🔊

@tsrono I listened to it earlier today. I liked all tracks but that no. 5 kallistei is insane! No. 3 and 7 also immediately captured me like some shephards tone going on. How did you make that no. 5? Really crispy sounds and harsh dynamics also

@elifyalvac i think i'd seen https://mastodon.social/@t36s@social.ordinal.garden talking about it on here when i'd first signed up on Mastodon & it sounded like a good idea! i got a lot out of it & learned a lot by focusing on just strict drone stuff & working at it every single day for a month straight.

@elifyalvac thanks, glad you dug it! kallistei has some good energy for sure, that screeching synth sound does a lot of the work keeping the tension high along with the frantic odd-meter drum stuff.

drums on all the whole album were Elektron Rytm...i think the synths were just Waldorf Pulse 2 & DSI Evolver iirc at that time. it was a hybrid setup being controlled by Ableton & a Push 1 w/ a Faderfox UC4 controller. the glitching bits are all Looper &/or Beat Repeat from Ableton, controlled live.

@elifyalvac crisp sounds & harsh dynamics were mostly because i was pushing sounds hard into Ableton recording directly, using some basic compressor effects & such to keep them controlled but mostly just pushing the machines straight into Live. i believe that's what lead to that vibe i captured on that album. maybe something i'd do good to revisit.

@tsrono I still love Beat Repeat quite a lot especially when it is automated. Usually I can tell very easily when someone uses most of the stock effects in ableton, especially recently in bbc radio 6 features, you can tell but I didn’t realise it in yours cos it obviously has so much more going on. I’m going to blast that track again. Cheers

@elifyalvac thanks for that! i'm the same, rarely touch BR since that album, occasionally if it's buried in a busy mix maybe? it can come across very obv & very cheesy (which is fine if that's what you're going for).

here's a couple of recordings from when i was testing that setup, i believe it's just Rytm > Ableton with those effects on clear display.
