@elifyalvac no, i don't have anything too interesting gear-wise, not at that level for sure. i remember some sorta noisy effects pedals out of Japan (i think?) that piqued my interest but never jumped down that path. i'm looking to build some weird patching & get closer towards those noisier & more wild sounds with some gear i've got tho. later this year probably if all goes well
oh thanks for the rundown. not *too* crazy when broken down but still v versatile & gets wild quickly!
@elifyalvac you designed that yourself i believe you'd mentioned?

@lislegaard FFS I searched and they have a whole influencer package. I fell behind youtube! Ok, let me leave so I’ll reupload the video with my new nordvpn package. yikes they put pewdiepieeee on

@elifyalvac @lislegaard I had never heard of this and been a Nord VPN user for years...

@tsrono Got involved in that. I need to thank Goodiepal for that. I don’t know if you know him but in 2019 when I used to leave in Turkey I went to Denmark and did a mini tour with him in Copenhagen. It was then Freakbox became mine. If you don’t know about Goodiepal, be ready for some weirdest sh*t that will pop out when you search him lol he is not present in any internet channels. He doesn’t use a phone which makes it hard to communicate with him but there is a way

@tsrono + I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from Japan. It is a different path. I am on the same side as you in that, despite this freakbox thing you see. I like building those things at software level. I am fascinated by DSP but I still need to learn so much! By the way, what’s the next thing from you that I should listen to on my bandcamp now?

@elifyalvac the little i glanced at of his is pretty diverse for sure...i imagine he's a fun touring partner if nothing else!

@SamanthaJaneSmith Thanks! I can imagine you having lots of fun with this tool after finding out about your tools!

@elifyalvac i see i see! i i'm going to try & design a 'system' w/ my hardware gear. idk how far i'll get but should be an interesting endeavor! DSP is so so deep & vast, there's a fair good bit of info and research out there about it at least, tho i can't say i've really read anything good personally (got a Max For Live book i've temporarily sidelined. it's good, just not got far enough in)
this one's got a pretty diverse collection of song types, some raw & heavy

https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/erythric-limnes@tsrono Thanks! I might have already enjoyed this one but I don’t know if I checked the whole thing. I now have an exciting list of things to listen to today in my break from work. Looking forward.

@elifyalvac Too many synths so little time!

@SamanthaJaneSmith @lislegaard I hadn’t heard of it either until yesterday. Looks like some influencers have nord vpn sponsorship

@elifyalvac if something a bit less beat-driven is of interest, i still enjoy listening to my drone release - 5 hours of daily drones done in December some years ago - they're not all gems but it's an interesting set of stuff. good for background/dropping in wherever & such as there's no narrative arc or anything intended: https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/decoi-ei

@mosgaard could have avoided saying “this is a city” but it can look like it like bjork’s christmas tv haha
thank you! It became mine in Denmark!

@tsrono yeah, always up for that. Cheers! What inspired you to do that dronedecember?

https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/erythric-limnes@tsrono I listened to it earlier today. I liked all tracks but that no. 5 kallistei is insane! No. 3 and 7 also immediately captured me like some shephards tone going on. How did you make that no. 5? Really crispy sounds and harsh dynamics also

@elifyalvac i think i'd seen https://mastodon.social/@t36s@social.ordinal.garden talking about it on here when i'd first signed up on Mastodon & it sounded like a good idea! i got a lot out of it & learned a lot by focusing on just strict drone stuff & working at it every single day for a month straight.

@elifyalvac thanks, glad you dug it! kallistei has some good energy for sure, that screeching synth sound does a lot of the work keeping the tension high along with the frantic odd-meter drum stuff.
drums on all the whole album were Elektron Rytm...i think the synths were just Waldorf Pulse 2 & DSI Evolver iirc at that time. it was a hybrid setup being controlled by Ableton & a Push 1 w/ a Faderfox UC4 controller. the glitching bits are all Looper &/or Beat Repeat from Ableton, controlled live.

@elifyalvac crisp sounds & harsh dynamics were mostly because i was pushing sounds hard into Ableton recording directly, using some basic compressor effects & such to keep them controlled but mostly just pushing the machines straight into Live. i believe that's what lead to that vibe i captured on that album. maybe something i'd do good to revisit.
