Although I first discovered @pluralistic through his more recent novels (and the Fediverse), I can understand why so many people consider this book, one of his best. I absolutely loved it βtruly great storytelling.

@Luchador @pluralistic Bought it in a humblebundle, still haven't gotten around to it but it's coming. Lotta stuff to read and I'll be dead way before I would prefer to be. In my final moments I will claw at the unread pile, which of course will not be real books so I'll be pretending, cause what else you gonna do.
At the time it came out I was reading BoingBoing, as I recall, and just based on the output of his I had read there, I kinda just decided (and this may be right, may be wrong) that the title contrasted with Orwell's Big Brother, and was a tale of little people owning ubiquitous recording devices, and countering surveillance or fascists or something (was less clear that he was the sort of guy that would end up advising our future NDP PM at the time), a parable of collective power, enabled by small tech.
Now that's still just my supposition, so I need to get reading it and see what it's actually about.
