        @nina_kali_nina In what cursed way can a translation add violence?

          @Mark_self sad indeed. Example: a character is sad because they've lost their family, and they are reminded of happy days, and they say "Sorrow exists because of things like this", and it is translated as "This is the kind of shit that makes you miserable" %)

            @nina_kali_nina really. A completely different meaning and mood. It's as if it's sad and at the same time the hero is simply angry, and not just in deep sadness.😬

              @drawnto original Japanese line: 「何だ、あれは?」
              Straightforward translation: "What is this [thing]?"
              Crunchy subs: "The hell is that shit?"

              The show is ranked 16+ for "profanity usage", but there wasn't any, until subs added it. In Japan it's PG12, and S1 in the US used to be TV-PG/TV-14

                @nina_kali_nina It's as if the character is about to start smashing dishes and drinking vodka 😁😬

                  @nina_kali_nina Oh i see so not changing the plot to add more violence but adding new profanities.

                    @nina_kali_nina I don’t know, the English subtitles of Das Boot insert a lot of profanities which weren’t spoken.
