@afewbugs What else did you put in it, other than the wild garlic?

You can find wild garlic in shady, wooded places near water but you can also often find Arum maculatum growing there, often in among the wild garlic (second picture) and the young leaves in particular can be difficult for beginners to distinguish. https://www.jackravenbushcraft.co.uk/lords-ladies-arum-maculatum/ This is another reason to pick slowly and mindfully, one leaf at a time - it isn't just a respectful, sustainable way to ensure you don't take too much from any one plant, you're also more likely to make a mistake if grabbing handfuls of leaves.

@afewbugs I wonder if you could make a similar pesto using jack-in-the-hedgerow, a herb/weed that works as a substitute for garlic. It'll soon be coming into season.

Last year I tried fermenting some wild garlic and was very happy with the results.
If you like wild garlic and fermented foods like Sauerkraut or Kimchi, I can absolutely recommend trying it out.

Wash the leaves to remove any little friends who may have hitched a lift, then blend them with lemon juice, olive oil (in the UK you can get Palestinian olive oil from https://zaytoun.uk/ or https://yaffa.co.uk/) ground almonds, nutritional yeast and salt and pepper to taste to make pesto.
Congratulations, now you too can have garlic breath for most of spring.

@capnthommo it's already out down here, I'll give that a try when I've finished this batch!

@afewbugs I'm waiting for my wild garlic spot to be ready for a proper harvest, hoping to go check it again after work today... but reckon it'll be perfect maybe next weekend, early Aprilish.
