    Thinking of setting up some sort of donation bucket to help support my general MediaWiki and other open-source work that's not on a client's dime.

    What do folks like for this? Experiences from both the donor and donee (?) sides desired.

    @bvibber There is another service called Buy Me A Coffee, not to be confused with Ko-fi. I have seen it used by a few different creatives, and it looks like you can set goals (milestones). Im curious if it could work for your situation.

        @bvibber There is also Liberapay.

        It has the neat feature of allowing you to donate to a project and split among several people, but I do not have much personal experience with using it

          @bvibber

          Credit/debit card.

          I do as little as possible with apps and internet based stuff. Fair go: I'm probably not your target audience.

                      @bvibber I feel like patreon probably has the lowest barrier of entry for a larger audience, but I don't know if they are an "ethical" company

                      (Ethical in scare quotes because it is doing tremendous heavy lifting around the company, the founder, if you just don't like the pomplamouse cover of Pony because you oppose joy...)

                      Cash app is always an option for direct one-off donations but I don't know if they do recurring payments

                        @bvibber I use ko-fi with stripe (not paypal - even though ko-fi allows both), but I think opencollective might be better suited to your circumstance.

                        On the other hand, ko-fi is very cutesy, which could be fun. Depends on the aesthetic you're aiming for, I suppose.
